The local Farmers’ Market season is over, the German American School of Portland’s Holiday Market is behind us and winter is here. There won’t be any more outdoor events until spring when the farmers’ market officially opens on Mother’s Day weekend. I was a vendor at this past weekend’s German Holiday Market and managed to get away from my booth for a few minutes here and there to snap a few photos to share with you. The event offered German food and glühwein, German novelties and Advent Calendars, family entertainment, German sweets and treats, and of course Nutcrackers. The market is held the Saturday before Thanksgiving and for most of us is the official start of the holiday season.
I’d luv to try some of that food!
Happy Thanksgiving.
What a great looking market and how wonderful for people living in your area to be able to buy some of those enticing products and treats.

I’m so happy you are enjoying your almonds, Susan. Our German market is small but has all the food, music, dancing, and good times that the large ones have. I look forward to it every year.

This sounds great! A fun time and lots of goodies. It sounds a lot like the Christkindlmarket that is opening here in Chicago tomorrow for the holidays.

How fun! I love the little felt elf, and the sausage, the candy…oh gosh, wish I were there!
I used to love the holiday folk fair we used to have in Milwaukee with food and vendors from many countries. This reminds me of that. What fun!

What a fantastic city you live in! I always say that am so want to visit! And I love your market photos, every market post and this one is no different than the produce and flower markets! Beautiful! I love Christmas markets and a German one is most definitely the best… I don’t know, the Christmas markets here in France (except in Alsace) all seem to be so un-Christmassy. I love this one…

Hi,
I’m new to your wonderful blog and just looking around a bit. The Holiday Market looks wonderful, is it something they’re still doing each year? I”d love to go this year and take it all in. I have German ancestry from both my Mother & Father’s families.
Thank you
