There are so many wonderful appetizer recipes surfacing now in anticipation of the big game day, and all the activity got me thinking about what I’m going to serve on Super Bowl Sunday. I love all the savory choices but it is nice to have something on the sweet side to balance out the menu. Apples and hazelnuts pair up beautifully with the brie and crunchy crostini.
This is quick and so easy to put together.
Toast baguette slices. Top with a generous helping of your favorite brie. Peel and slice a granny smith apple, or another variety that holds it’s shape when cooked. Melt 3 tablespoons butter and 3 tablespoons brown sugar in a small skillet. Add peeled, sliced apple and saute for 3 – 4 minutes or until nicely browned. Place apple slice and a little of the brown sugar syrup on top of the brie.
Garnish with chopped hazelnuts.
I don’t care for Brie – so I use the little “Laughing Cow” wedges!
Cathy, if these taste half as good as they look you have a real winner. I love this kind of recipe.
I would love to try these!
